Methods for analysing turbulence data
Organisateur(s) : Thierry Dudok de Wit (LPC2E), Olga Alexandrova (LESIA)
We organise a one-day workshop on data analysis methods on for processing plasma turbulence data as obtained in the solar wind. These tools can be applied to any time series measured in astrophysics, space physics, hydrodynamics, etc. This event will be held immediately after the workshop on solar wind turbulence, which also takes place at CIAS. For that reason, we expect several participants from the latter to also stay at our one-day workshop, which is more dedicated to methodological issues. We plan to open up our workhop to master students, and to PhD students from the Paris region.
In the morning we plan general lectures on time series analysis such as Fourier and wavelet transforms, Hilbert Transform and caveats related to each of these methods. In the afternoon we will organise a session where we can try these tools on their computers.
